Jonnie, I think it is made by Lock-Tite for machine screws, Billy Knowels could tell you, get in touch with him, they also make a blue colored one. Try ACE hardware..

Johnie, I’m pretty sure what you have there uses a “Nylok red patchâ€:
https://nylok.com/products/nylok-red-patch
I think Lynn Stafford and Billy Knowles have some Nylok screws made up in the correct sizes for PP tuning screws.
Springs will work as suggested, and for some guitars may be more “period correctâ€, if that matters. Ace Hardware #2 compression springs work well.
Vibratite is ok, but beware the packaging. The cap on the bottle tends to become bonded and sometimes can’t be removed without breaking the bottle.
Good suggestion on the purple Loktiite Palli! I have used the blue 244 with some success as well. _________________ Tommy Detamore

Tommy I got 30 screws with the red stuff on them from a push Pull remodel I did for a customer. I just finished a bolt on that had springs that worked fairly well. I removed the springs an used the new red treated screws it was a huge improvement. |

Yeah Johnie I agree they can be smoother and possibly even more stable. The problem with the springs sometimes is that they can “catch†a little on the head of the screw when turning. Most if not all of the compression springs you buy have one end that is “finished†(for lack of a better term). This finished edge rides along the screw head much better than a raw cut end does and can make for smoother turning. So when I cut them to length I use that end to make contact with the screw head. _________________ Tommy Detamore

What you are looking at is Nylok. You have to send the hardware to them and they will make them up for you. I believe the minimum order is 1000 but you should check with them first. Anything other than Nylok is probably not going to be the best solution. Locktite can and will mess you up in softer cast or aluminum parts and the possibilty of striping parts is high (use at your own discretion).
