I'm offering an original Dopera Brothers resonator DoBro . The serial number indicates it to be a 1939 model . The guitar is set up for picking....not slide …...and there are issues that happened when a cousin tried to refinish it and in the process , sanded off the decal logo . If it was still there , the value would be increased , hence the low price of $ 500 I have pics and will try to figure how to post them

| I notice it’s not strung up, which begs the questions: Is the neck joint solid? There doesn’t appear to be an adjustable truss rod; Is the neck straight under tension? Is the action reasonably low? |

FYI - I’m about 90% sure that no prewar roundneck Dobro came with a truss rod of any kind.
I have heard a few stories where luthiers disassembled these guitars and installed adjustable truss rods if the neck was bowed.

I was aware that that none had adjustable rods, I didn't know if they had some kind of solid steel rod or not.
I have one which doesn't seem to have a truss rod. it has a badly bowed neck; I have relegated it to lap style. I'm hoping this guitar is playable standard style. |

This Dobro Model 19 appears to have the slots in the headstock rounded rather than squared off, so this model entered the product line at the Regal/Chicago factory circa late 1933 to 1934.
To save money on these lower end models they were typically built without soundwells.
The guitar Larry has for sale jogged my memory of a video I saw a few years back on YouTube of the same model, and in fact today I have found two videos where luthiers have disassembled the guitars and reset the necks, and in the meantime added truss rods.
It's difficult to tell from Larry's photos if the guitar will still play cleanly as a roundneck rather than going lap style, but I hope that's the case unless one is a skilled home luthier eager for a coronavirus isolation project, or a job for a professional luthier. No mention in the videos of what these pro luthiers charged to breathe new life into these old roundneck Dobros, but you know it isn't cheap.

The guitar is strung up now and plays fine . The mistake I made was putting strings on that were too light , so I removed them and now have the correct strings on and it sounds great....and the neck is not bowed . This guitar belonged to my uncle and he had it in Hawaii during W W II . Feel free to ask any questions.
