Here's a cool photo from the classic era of really great country backing bands. This is Carl Smith's band - The Tunesmiths. Check out the cool guitars including a Fender steel played by Johnny Sibert, an Epiphone archtop played by Jimmy Smith and a Gibson archtop played by Sammy Pruett. In the middle with the fiddle - that's the Dale Potter. On drums - Buddy Harman. And on bass - Junior Huskey. What a fantastic group of players!

Great photo, Andy. Johnny was always one of my favorite steel players.
He seemed to me to play a lot like Little Roy Wiggins.

My guess is around 1955.
