Those strings look and feel totally indestructible! Cant wait to get them installed. I have some rosin from my viola that I will use on them to prevent slippage.

Are those Bow Strings? I have never seen that type before. These are smaller than the wax string that I have been using and will work great with the jewelry compression tab for the stop...

thanks again Dick !!!

No not bow string, these days that is another thing all together, even though the newest bow string materials might be used for our purpose. It is "Bow String Serving Material" that I am referring to and use. It is sold in spools like sewing thread. Comes in different thicknesses, colors and material types. It can be purchased on line/Amazon or from any up scale "Pro Archery Shop".

The material I use is a braided "BCY Carbon Fiber", not all of it is. The last I bought cost about 10 to 12 bucks a spool. It lasts so long, I don't know what the cost is today.

I use braided because of it's toughness and the fact that it does not fray as bad or as quick. I double it because it's diameter is smaller then the strings that are normally used on volume pedals. I put rosin on the take up spool because this stuff can be slick and of course, slipping is not an option on a volume pedal.

From my spool:

#62 BRAIDED SERVING
.025 thickness/size

BCY Bowstring
155 Industrial Park Road
Middletown CT 06457
http://www.bcyfibers.com

Smaller spools can be purchased here:

Hope this answers any questions... Wink

And, sure I'll sell it!
