I have 2 of the original older clubs. They were designed for rock guitar players who want a little crunch to their sound and it's hard (but not impossible) to get a good clean steel sound form them.

The new Jazz Club is designed for jazz guitarists, and is inherently cleaner. It's similar to the old Polytone Mini-brute.

I wonder how it would handle a steel.

Mike, I would like to try one out too. Even on Archtop guitar. I already have too many amps now.

If it's comparable to a Polytone Mini-Brute, it should be an excellent amp for steel. I have an old Mini-Brute II that I gigged with for years in smaller rooms that sounds rich and warm with everything from my Fender Studio Deluxe to my Emmons D-10.
