Carter D-10, 8x5 in very good condition. Probably a 2004 model (see below)—in any case, it has the Body Contact Technology. Comes with a standard Carter carpeted case in excellent condition, as well as a (home-made?) cover and a leg bag.

Triple-raise/triple-lower changers that play nice and smooth. I pulled both changers to give them a scrub down and a re-lube with Tri-Flow.

Pickups are, I believe, stock Carter single coils. My digital multi-meter is shot, and the analog one I picked up at the hardware store is a mystery to me, but I would guess these pickups are in the 20k range: good single-coil growl.

Mica finish: plank top, mahogany(?) aprons.

When I acquired this steel, it had a standard C6 on the back neck, and some unfathomable tuning and copedant on the front neck. String gauges were close to C6, and I couldn’t find sort of sacred steel or other copedant that looked like it. With several new parts (thank you Al Brisco!) I was able to put a pretty standard E9 on the front neck.

Current copedant:

Among the pics below, note the somewhat garbled serial number in pic #7. If the scratched number is a 4 (as someone wrote below at some point) then this is a 2004 model. Can’t say with utter certainty though. What might appear to be gouging under the E9 headstock in pic #4 is just the figuring in the plank mica. Pic #14 shows an added part that puzzled me for a long time. I finally figured out what it’s there for, as seen in pic #15: pretty handy, in fact.

Price is $2050 shipped in the continental US. Carter D-10s in the case weigh in between 55-60lbs; add @5lbs for packaging. I am figuring $150 for shipping. If it’s more, its on me. If I can get a better rate, I will refund the difference to the buyer. Local buyers are more than welcome(!) I will reduce the price to $1900 for a local sale.

Carter - best bang for the buck of any pro steel. I'm amazed they always sell for so little $$.
