I would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Paul Franklin, Sr. for the addition of 4 knee levers to a fabulous Franklin guitar that was birthed circa 1986. Not only did they add 4 knee levers but they restored the guitar to a like new finish. The Franklin's are a unique couple who have devoted their lives to steel guitar and continue to do so and I cannot say enough about their hospitality and warmth. And, there were just a few “stories” along the way.
Thanks again and I hope to see you in St. Louis this year. Hope that you do not mind the pictures if they come through.
Pictures on the way!

Yes!!!!!!!!!! I had a cup of coffee at that table with those wonderful folks a little over a year ago along with Woody Woodell. I have an 84 Franklin serial #84 that I would not take anything for. Your guitar is a thing of beauty. I love the undercarriage on the Franklin and the design has not changed from the beginning til now. Remarkable.

They are a great couple and a great guitar builder. Paul has always taken care of me and my 81 Franklin.
We always stop and visit when we are in Nashville. |

Anytime I go to St Louis they always look after me and it's greatly appreciated. I've really enjoyed my Franklin guitar over the past few years and although I still love my Emmons PP I haven't played it in over a year.
You can see a Picture of my Franklin with the link below. The website is a work in progress but will go live in the next few months.(officially):

Such kind and down to earth people. Getting to know them a bit has been a real bonus of being a Franklin player.

I must give my little story about Mr. Franklin also. Back in the 80's, I had some trouble with my Emmons and i was at a Jam in Watertown. I called Mr. Franklin and told him my problem. He said bring it over. I got there and he fixed it, gave me a new rubber peice that goes on the leg that had worn through, and would not take any money. I could not believe how nice this man was. He was so proud of his boys, and I can see why. Thanks again Mr Franklin, 20 years later. |

Here is my Franklin story...In 1989 I had sold my ShoBud & was ready for a Franklin. I went to Nashville to the Franklin's home were I was treated to food, drinks & viewed family photo albums. I was treated like family. I was shown a burgandy & black single neck which was to be the first guitar with the chrome corners cut away. Paul said whenever they show the steel on TV, they sometimes don't show the name. This way when people saw the cutaway corner, they would know it was a Franklin. Turns out he changed his mind & I have the only one! # 130 |
