You may remember this video from two years ago... I wrote this tune as a demo for C diatonic tuning. Today I watched it again and I decided that it deserves a name, so now it's Kahala Swing! I posted it on YouTube today. Thanks for checking it out! Cool

Very nice Doug, and no bar slants? I really love the tone of that little Gibson too.

Thanks Andy. No bar slants for this song. This tuning has the open notes of a C major scale (without the D). There is a half step interval (B, C) on adjacent strings so that allows for some nice scale runs that are not usually found on lap steel tunings. It's not the best all-round tuning IMO but it does have a lot of nice sounds and it requires some string skipping to avoid train wrecks!

Very nice Doug..........I cant make my mind up whether to have a go at that tuning. I suspect there may be a lot of work in controlling and damping unwanted string vibrations making the sound quite dissonant. Great sound as always!

Thanks Mike! Yes, pick blocking is important with this tuning. If you retune from C6 you’ll need to change strings 5 and 6, and possibly 4. It would easier to leave your C6 strings on and tune to a lower diatonic, like G# diatonic. That way you could experiment with the tuning without having to change strings.
