I just picked up a used Powerslide. Powerslide users, what gauge strings do you all use on your Powerslide for the various open tunings?

Thanks!

Hi, Kris;

I have my Powerslide tuned open G (Dobro) tuning, as C6 escapes me thus far and I haven't tried any others. I use 16,18,28,35,45,56 string gauges and run through a Fishman Loudbox Mini amp with good results. Results may vary though, as a friend has the same setup and it sounds different whether it is he or me that plays it. Go figure.
Enjoy your Powerslide. I love mine.

David

Hi David,

Thanks for the information. The strings that are on the Powerslide currently have to go. I have a set of Stringjoy strings that's close to the gauges you are using. I'll give them a spin. I wasn't sure how heavy to go since the Powerslide's scale length is longer than your typical lap steel.

Have a nice weekend!

A new set of strings made all of the difference. The Powerslide plays like a dream and the tonal options available are vast.
