i have a friend who lives in a different country and has purchased a harmony lap steel. he has sent me the following question so i thought i'd post it here for recommendations. note that the picture is not his particular lap steel.

i want to add that i don't think he really means intonation but it is his not a native english speaking person's term.
thanks,
mikeB

I have a lapsteel that has bad intonation its from the year 1956 and the type is harmony 6 string. I see that the nut is a littlebit misbent. I don't know if its plastic or bone. There seems to be no intonation meqhanism on the bridge. I've seen guys change the bone nut with homemade alloy nut. Any suggestions?

He might be talking about the nut being misaligned, it looks like its bass string is right on the edge of the neck. I've had harmony's with pretty bad nuts but the main thing that affected playing was uneven slot depth.
It may benefit from a new nut. There is no intonation adjustment on a steel because it don't need it, it is an instrument like a fiddle that you hear when you're in tune, the fret markers are just for a visual reference.
