This body is either a "The Professional" or "Pro-II" and certainly not a Pro-III. The Professional and the Pro-II had the exact same body and end plates with coil taps and round front from top to front apron; only the original professional had racks pulling barrels and the first pro-II had two hole pullers, pulling barrels. Obviously this one was done up with Coops Super Fingers with possitive nylon tuner; with two hole pullers on round crossbars.....Just freakin' the smoothest and great sounding Sho-bud can be.

Yes, John is correct.
It was a Professional which was originally blue, but turned green over the years.
We totally rebuilt it with John Coop parts, & yes the customer is high profile, & prefers not to use brand endorsements.

We also in the process of redoing a S-B X-Over, plus a red Professional.

We'll post pictures when they are ready.
Regards,
Al Brisco

Ricky-That is a beautiful old,(new) sho-bud. Great sound and easy playing. I had a professional and really liked it. My old Red dog.I liked the original coil taps on each neck too.

But it got too heavy for me, so sadly, I had to let it go........al

BTW...Those that think that the "Crossover" model Sho~Buds are not worth much, wait till you see the one that Al Brisco is currently doing. Coop

So, does the crossover still work, or is that mechanism/concept done away with?

I think the answer to your question James is No.

From the underside photo I don't see any evidence of the Crossover mechanism, and there's no lever by the tuners.

I don't think this is a Crossover model, anyway. This has eight pedals and three knee levers, whereas the Crossover comes with six pedals and one knee lever.

I guess I am missing something here. Everything about the guitar says Sho-Bud,why not leave the original decals on it ? High profile pickers don't want the manufactuers name on it ? go figure.
I have always been pretty darn proud of my guitars but then my profile is pretty low...

Alan - Al said they were in the process of redoing a crossover. He's talking about a different guitar.

George L's - interesting choice. I know I love 'em in my Carter D-10, but I hardly ever see them in 'Buds.
