| I am in the process of tuning my experiment for the uni tuneing, and i have a question for you experiened uni people! When tuning the "D" lever, how do you also get the 6 pedal to tune to the D note? I read Jeff,s book and that,s how he said to do it. But how do you do the mechanics??? Is there something someone could tell me???????? I got all the other pedals tuned but his ine. Thanks Dave Frye |

| You didn't mention what kind of PSG you're installing the setup on, but if it has a standard scissors changer, tune your regular #4 and #8 drop to standard D#. The 6th FP should then be set to pull #4 back up to E and the #8 down to D. This will admittedly leave a "bump" in the action, but you can't do a thing about that except on dual-changer guitars (e.g. Bossan, Whitney, BMI, etc.) It's the nature of the beast. Set up a lowering rod on the "fast track" to then pull the already-lowered #8 additionally to the D note. When you release the #6 pedal, the string should return to its pre-lowered tone of D#. There MUST be enough slack in that rod to allow the lowered 8th string to E. If it doesn't return to E, you don't have enough slack in the rod. Select another hole further out from the cross-shaft centerline in your bellcrank or a hole in the changer closer to the changer axle itself or both. You'll find it. Just be sure that you allow that #8 to return to E or you'll be tracking down "demons" till the cows come home!! Hope this helps. |
