Howdy Boys (and Girls)
Firstly, let me say your mileage may vary.
I came across a pedal made by Behringer, model TM-300 amp modeler. It is a stomp box and has 3 different amp models in it. Fender Tweed, Mesa Boogie, and Marshall stack.
Here is what I did... I put the TM-300 first in line after the Goodrich volume pedal, then to my Bo-Bro, then to my DD-3 Boss delay (used 1 repeat and sparingly) and lastly into my Wet Verb to my NV112 with a TT speaker. I adjusted the amp to straight up on bass, treble and presence (basically turning them off to use the tones in the pedal) I set the mid to -9 and the shift to 7-800 on the amp. I set the unit to microphone right(speaker edge), the amp type to Fender Tweed (clean) and the drive or distortion to 0, and the volume on the unit to full on, so I use the volume on the amp overall. The tone (I know is subjective) is adjustable at the fingertips, both bass and treble set to taste. It is very even across the strings and seems to kill any harshness in any string that might occur.
(by the way I play a Mullen G2 with a Telonics 206 pickup). I can get very close to the PP sound when needed. At least to my ears.
This unit is only $24.99 at Sweetwater. It was a treat to try it and I have now bought 2 one for my stage guitar and 1 for my practice guitar.
It at least give me some diversity on stage I can change my tone with the flick of a wrist if I want to.
Just thought I would share something different for ya'll to explore. Quickest way to a PP tone I have found without owning a PP guitar. Wonderful guitars, just are not for me.

As for the Sarcastic comment above a $9.99 hammer could be used for an attitude adjustment. |

Roy, interesting and an inexpensive experiment. With all the recent positive press and positive reviews from pro players towards the Fender Twin Tone Master, which is modeled just to emulate the old heavy tube amp, I wonder what the results of this would be in conjunction with a black box thru a SS type amp...
Just out of curiosity, how would you describe (in “tone†terms) what it does to your tone that makes it more like push-pull tone? (I’ve never owned a push-pull).
I’ll probably give it a try—might be fun with my other guitars.

My personal opinion is that for the money they are hard to beat. Do they sound as good as boutique pedals....no. Do people really notice with your live tone? That is up for debate. |

It's a Boss 7 band EQ pedal that Bobbe Seymore set up to get a dobro type sound. He then broke off the sliders and covered the slots with a piece of plastic. He then sold it under the Bo-Bro name.

Exactly. And they cost twice as much as just buying the Boss and moving the sliders yourself.

Playing pedal steel with a hard hat on makes it sound more like a push pull also. LOL

Hi Gents,
All comments are welcome, Tony I just thought you were being funny. To explain, it is just a cheap experiment and will not suit everyone's ears. It takes some adjusting and tweaking like everything else that you put in the line. Interesting idea though. As always, everyone's ears are different and will be different most nights as discussed here on the forum all the time. Let me know what you guys hear.

Lyle, You are right! No one knows the difference anyway. If they can tell the difference in tone, they probably are a steel player and didn't pay to get in the joint anyway.
P.S. you could remove the decal from the front of your G2 and screw on an Emmons nameplate. I suggest a 6" paint brush, it won't take as many strokes.
