I have an E9th with standard copedent.
I'm unable to get the 6th string to an A (+4).
When I screw in the vinyl hex to raise the B pedal pitch, the open 6th string also tightens and the pitch raises too far (above G#, -4).
I've fiddled with the metal hex stopper bolt at the string end changer, but not helping so far.
(My 3rd string with B pedal tunes ok)
Thanks for suggestions. _________________ Simmons 'Genesis', Katana amp, Goodrich pedal. |

Go back to the opening page of "Pedal Steel" and read the sticky #4 on overtuning. |

Did you just change that G# from a plain string got a wound string? The wound string needs to be pulled a lot more to raise a half step. If so, you could go back to a plain string. Or you could leave the wound string on, find the stop for that cross shaft, and loosen it to let the shaft rotate further. Alternatively, you could attach the pull rod to a hole on the puller that is further from the cross shaft, so it will pull more. |

Indeed, I think I went from unwound to wound. Thus, I changed back to an unwound. Now, it seems to be staying in tune. I'll make sure to remember this feedback........thanks! _________________ Simmons 'Genesis', Katana amp, Goodrich pedal. |

I'm glad your problem has been solved; but, please read Jon's most excellent post about overtuning and undertuning.
It could prevent a lot of future grief.
