I wonder what the idea was for these racks? What was the selling point? More weight? More cases to carry? I don't get it.

Maybe it was looks or stability! I've only seen one of the Brad's Racks in my life many years ago and as I remember it was sort of resembled an old Singer sewing machine with the fancy lattice work and all and was very stable, it didnt' wobble at all. There was an article in the old Steel Guitarist Magazine about these. I think Tom Bradshaw marketed them....JH in Va.
