Stumbled on this musical from 1937 on the tube. Sol Ho'opi'i with full band doing Hawaiian Hospitality. He plays a bakelite Rickenbacher.

Starts at 32:00 it looks like...and then he plays a bit later with another number (at least that I've seen so far)...good catch!

That's handy Sebastian. Thanks. Lately, I have become disenchanted with the media's fixation on a cynical present and a dystopian future under the banner of realism. Its actually their choice. But old musicals are an antidote.
