I just inherited a blackface unit with t.c, and angled speakers. Didn't realize the unit has a power amp built in? How can it be so light?
thx

Bob, GD Walker has offered in the past, should I acquire a used TC X-One, to talk me through setting it up with some of his presets. I'd suggest contacting him:
Gdwalker@stereosteel.com
GD offers support for his equipment that is, shall way say, above and beyond! I've got an old used Gold Face that he is advising me on repairing after I used a bad speaker cable and blew the power amp module on. He'd repair it if I was in the US, but I'm too far away to ship it, so I have parts coming in. Great guy, and certainly your first call if you ever need help with his gear.
Of course, you could just send the amp to me.... _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

You probably have his usual refurbished JBL 15-inch speakers, rebuilt to withstand something like 250 or 275 watts power. They sound great.
When I ordered my custom system, I had Gerry build the speaker cabs with a removable back panel, so I could use them open or closed back. Terrific feature, as JBL's want open air to sound best. Black Widows sound beefier and bassier with a closed back, so I have ultimate flexibility. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

I've been using a gold faced SS for 10 years and I love it. I bought it used and never regretted it. I originally used a ProFex 2 but, changed to a TC M-300 unit with it. It has THE sound. The original JBL speakers still sound great too. The manual is easy to understand and you'll probably dial in your sweet spot in no time. They are great amp systems. |
