Had the great pleasure of hearing Norm Hamlet last night here in Sedona. He's backing up the Haggard Brothers, Noel and Ben. Lots of fun and really very well done. I was fortunate to have a chat with Norm. Topics ranged from cabinet drop to a few "remember when" moments. A very nice gentleman. I gather they are headed off to Japan next.

I met Norm at the St. Louis convention one year. What a super nice fellow. And of course he's a steel guitar legend and I don't think we hear enough about him. |

Is he still playing that fancy guitar he used with Merle?

Glad to hear about this! He and the sons are keeping the tradition going.
I met Norm at St. Louis several years ago. We talked about him, Merle and RusLer guitars.
A very wonderful gentleman to talk to. I wish him the best. |

Norm was in LA with the Merle/Chris Christopherson show just a few months before Merle passed. Norm was flawless. He was playing a GFI.
Merle’s son was on lead guitar, mixed quite loud, and gave a good showing. I bet Haggard Brother would be worth seeing, especially with Norm involved.

Yeah Erv, I met him here in Charlotte in the spring, and he was playing a GFI with an aftermarket lighted fret board that Mario had gotten and installed for him. He is a real prince of a guy. |
