Hi everyone,
My estate sale find. I have been studying the forum here.
Love the forum!
I think this is an old sho-bud fingertip maybe?
Even seen one with this finish?
34-5/16 X 11-7/8
8 Pedal, 1 Knee
D10 Necks; 1 Birdseye 1 curly
Body is Birdseye underneath but it has brown laminate outside
No nameplate or numbers except "B3" is written on body
underside and on one end plate inside

Not even a Sho-Bud let alone a Fingertip. |

The pedals and keyhead look Sho-Bud, but that's about it. It's a Frankensteel. The changer tailpieces are more similar to a late model Permanent than a Fingertip, but they're not likely Sho-Bud. The undercarriage with the flat levers instead of cross shafts is more like a ZB, but there were others built like this. Maybe someone here will recognize it's origins but it's very likely a one-off. |

Not a Fingertip at all, but close to this example. Still not the same as this guitar but the idea looks simular. The changer looks like a pull release type.
This is a Fingertip.
Top side of Fingertip, look at the changer.
I have never seen an early Sho-Bud with a laminate finish. |

The key heads appear to be Sho-Bud but that's the only resemblance. I use to have a Fingertip. It could be a good steel but most likely built from a smorgasbord of parts. Some from name builders and other parts custom made. I'm one of the few players that don't require pedigreed steel guitars. |
