Kind of like a Rickenbacher A-122! Or an an Indian Diddley Bow. Impressive intonation control. We argue all the time whether you need 10, 8, or 6 strings. Listen to what she can do with just 1.

On a lot of Indian instruments, including sitar, which admittedly has many strings, you do the vast majority of your gat (non-alap) playing on the main string (ma on sitar). Various veenas, sitar, surbahar, etc., usually you have your primary playing string, sometimes some lower strings usually for lower range melody during alaap (varies by gharana)...all those other strings are either drone / chikari strings for rhythmic accent and tonic/tanpura type role, or taraf sympathetic strings, emphasizing the notes of the raag.

Vietnamese Dan Bau is another one stringed instrument with a lot of expression...played with harmonics and a lever (no slide).

Interesting music... it is a little hard to dance to, though. She has great right hand blocking technique! Could it be that THIS is origin of the now infamous "Whammy Bar?" Inquiring minds want to know!
