I didn't know Gretsch was affiliated with Sho-Bud (note the engraved tailpiece).

I don't know if Gretsch owned Sho-Bud. I know that they owned Sho-Bro and then dumped it, whereupon Shot Jackson kept making Sho-Bros from the parts and tools that Gretsch left him with.

I believe I heard those ShoBro's were very loud. Almost overbearing if you didnt control it. Looks like this one may have had a problem though.
