Hello All,
New member here. I'm an old amateur fingerstyle acoustic guitar player, always loved the sound of the pedal steel so I decided to give it a try before my time runs out. I bought an old Sho-Bud Maverick on eBay, the seller has sold a number of these instruments so I hope he knows what he's doing. I'm aware that opinions differ about the wisdom of working with an old instrument, but newer ones are pricey (and can be intimidatingly complex).
I'm looking for a used Goodrich L120 volume pedal in good working order (mods can move this if it's in the wrong section).
Also, mods -- can you change my first name to Les? Avoids gender confusion, and that is such a touchy topic these days.
Thanks. This forum looks like a great place to be.

Les, you can pick up a new or rebuilt used Goodrich L120 volume pedal from Jim Palenscar at North County Steel Guitars in Oceanside, CA. I bought a rebuilt one from his business and am very happy with it. The operation of the pedal is like brand new. Good luck, and from a fellow beginning player, welcome. |

Thanks for the welcoming words. I'm on the fringe of Palo Alto, halfway between SF and SJ. I have one of the west coast's finest acoustic guitar shops about a mile away (Gryphon Strings), but not many PSGs to be seen.
Bob, thanks for the tip about North County Steel Guitars. Looks like a terrific resource.

Nice to meet you Les and I know what you mean about touchy. I would like to change my name to Les, well, not my last name. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Welcome to steeldom! it's a hugely fun and friendly place, except when your overtuned. Actually that's not a huge problem.
BTW, I used to go to a dentist in NorCal named Les Plack. I'm not making this up you can google it _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG

Welcome to the Forum. A new Stage One volume pedal can be had from Doug at around $100.00 and it is high quality and similar to the Goodrich. Some members are ok with a Ernie Ball pedal. Lots of other options and opinions on that. |

Welcome to the world of steel guitar. Leslie, Hi from Bobby.
I have had some funny statements made about my name. Sort of like the boy named SUE.
I had a trip in plan to New Mexico a few years ago, Our outfitter named Robert called me, Said he needed my legal given name to put on a New Mexico license.
I told him, Bobby is on my Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Drivers License and Passport. And as a State Wildlife Officer I used to sign Bobby D. Jones on a commitment form and put offenders in the county jail and slam the iron on them. He said, "It must be OK then". I got the license. |

Welcome Les. I bought my Martin from Gryphon back when. I'm now down the coast in San Luis Obispo. Anyway, start out slow and simple, but have fun with your steel!
Hey b0b, can you get Les' user name changed for him? _________________ MCI Arlington S-10 3+5, George L E-66, BJS & Emmons bars, Fender Stage Lead II 100W 1x12, Fender Satellite SFX, custom FX rack, 1983 Dobro 60D, SX-8 lap steel, Martin D16GT, Ibanez AS73, 1978 Rickenbacker 4000 custom. |
