Well folks... They did it again. Leon Roberts and Albert Johnson have rekindled the life of yet another Sho-Bud.
Fantastic job!!! I sold this guitar to a friend of mine over twenty years ago. It sat in the case for a while and occasionally saw the light of day. Well the steel juices started to flow again and he decided to get the guitar up to speed. He asked me about having the guitar worked over. I told him there was only (IMHO) one person to do the job. Leon. From then on it was easy. Well he picked the guitar up yesterday. He smiled...I cried... I told him I wanted it back. He laughed.........I cried.....again. Although the cabinet might have needed some work in the paint area he decided to leave it as a memento to the guitar for years of service. When I had the guitar we both had been to some interesting places. So the area of concentration was centered on the bottom and the mechanics. Well all I can say is the ole gal still has a bite.
New under carrage.. now 8/8 and TT pups.
While Leon worked the guitar Albert built a new case and speaker cabs that are being pushed by Gerry Walkers Stereo Steel amp. A marrage that brought to life a piece of art work. Sho-Buds are a legend..I wonder if Shot knows that....I bet he does!![This message was edited by Jack Dougherty on 30 June 2006 at 05:23 AM.] |

Jack, thanks for the kind words. Albert and I enjoyed spending the day with you and Bill yesterday. I'll post some photos so the "Black Beauty" can be seen. We might go down to the Florida Club meeting to hear you and bill play.

LEON, and Albert CAME TO THE CLUB MEETING YESTERDAY and brought his metal neck Shobud to compare with Billy's, Wood neck, Jack played Billy's on the first round it is awsome, then on the 2nd round played Leon's metal neck, both guitars were rebuilt by Leon same parts, the wood neck blew away the metal neck by a large margin. Every one I talked to agreed. These guitars are just great. The people that have tried them all agree.
