Took this on a trade a couple years back and thought I'd put it out here before it goes on Reverb. This is a National Reso-Phonic student resonator guitar with a really nice pearl-colored MOTS finish. These solid body guitars are unique in that they have a dome in the front and the back for more projection.
This one currently has a Beard 10" biscuit cone to replace the original 60 year old one. I had Paul Beard's shop replace the chipped nut and set the neck for "frettable bottleneck" playing which is how most people seem to use them. Before that, I was using a nut riser for lap playing. It also has a Schatten NR-2 contact pickup on the biscuit with the volume control friction mounted to the tailpiece. It can be easily removed with no ill effects to the guitar's finish but I think it adds to the overall play-ability.
22" scale, very good overall condition. While probably more of a collector guitar than a player, artists as diverse as Bill Frisell and the late Chris Cornell have used them as special purpose instruments. Typical big thick National neck but the action is nice for chords or bottleneck and it definitely has a great look. Slight pitting of the metal bridge cover, slight rust on the original Kluson tuners and some paint wear at the top of the headstock but otherwise very nice. No case. Asking $900 + shipping. Partial trades considered. I could use an SM57 or 58 microphone. I'll knock off $60 if you don't want the pickup.
