Is it true that Hartley Peavey actually let MIKE BROWN go?? That's an absolute travesty!!! Mike Brown was THE champion of PSG players at Peavey, and was EXTREMELY helpful to Forum members. I say we organize a protest to get him back!!

| Crying shame. Our champion and voice in pedal steel Peavey products is done. I hope we will continue to have Mike on the forum and at some of the steel shows. |

All those used Peavey amps might just take a drop in value.
And I have 6 or 7 of them. 
Mike is a valuable asset, if it is true he will easily find a job if he wishes.

Mike was a gold mine for us. He was wonderful in answering our questions concerning Peavey amps and the history of the development and design changes over the years. I had also heard the rumor that the manufacturing in the USA is coming to a cease and everything will be made in China in the future. Trumps tariffs may run the price up. One really big loss is going to be the repair facility. I hope they will keep that going because it will be needed for the China made amps as well as all the USA amps out there.
Jerry, the value of your amps may actually increase because they will be original, made in the USA. A lot of people don't want China amps. |

| If the cited 44 years is accurate for Mike (and probably so as he once told me he had a single digit employee number) that would make him at or very near retirement age. I doubt he will be looking for a new job. |

I hope there was a decent severance package and retirement plan for Mike, after 44 years of service. |

Anytime one of my Peavey amps needed repair or I did a S.O.S. to Mike , he was there, outstanding service help, he'll be missed.
Bottom line, CHINA, we all want cheap prices on goods we purchase, just go into Home Depot, anything made in America, well yes, garden plants & bushed. |

Millions(?)of Peavey amps are not going to dissapear overnight. They are so reliable, they will be around for years. So there will be a demand for repairs or simply advice on them. Some parts will be available from other suupliers, others cannibalized. Mike Brown's expertise will certainly be in demand, should he choose to make himself available. I join the throng who sincerely appreciates his commitment to our community.

Most experienced amp repair folk can successfully work on most Peavey amps; there are plenty of schematics around. If the rumors are true, it's a sad chapter in the history of a great company, but probably not the final chapter.

While I agree most repair shops can work on Peavey's, there are many that have "SMT" (Surface Mount Technology) components. Specialized SMT workstations are needed to properly work on these units (and the SMT components). Not every repair center has this capability.
Peavey's factory repair center does have the tools to work on SMT. I was given a 20 year old Peavey XR600F PA amp that was not working. Even the 20 year old has SMT and I had to send it to Peavey for repair. |

Perhaps. I don't think many could equal Peavey's expertise and low repair costs.

I needed to call Mike an talk to him.
I have a Tube Fex and Peavey Rack box amp. that just went down. Now will I be able to get it repaired????
This situation does not look good for steel players. |

Even though most Peavey fans... and I am one though not currently a Peavey onstage user... will see this as bad for our little industry, and it is, it could also be seen as a window of opportunity for someone to offer the same services for steelers that were considered "small potatoes" for a company the size and complexity as Peavey.
When one door closes, another opens. Or so I've heard.
