I went to visit Tommy Cass with Frank Caruso yesterday to have my Emmons volume pedal altered. I thought I would post some pictures of the beautiful guitars he has for sale. Some are in various stages of rebuild but they are for sale! They all look amazing! Tommy is an Emmons expert but he repairs all types. Enjoy the photos!

Two thumbs up for Tommy. I am fortunate enough to own one of his fully restored (and hot-rodded!) D-10 push-pulls. Beautiful things come out of that shop! You can tell just by looking at the "showroom" photo how meticulous Tommy is. And he's a super nice guy.
This is Tommy's work

Chris, I know exactly how you feel! I've been to Tommy's shop many times, going back to the mid-1980's when he rebuilt my Emmons D-10. I have seen (and played) some rare and beautiful steel guitars there... Bigsby, Fender PS-210, early Emmons, Zum hybrid, Rickenbacker fry pan, Sho-Buds, and many others. And Tom's work is excellent! Incredible attention to detail, and sparking clean restorations. _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel

I can’t tell y’all how much I miss my trips to Tom’s shop.
Tom made the time to tweak my guitars before I moved.

Some fantastic guitars, and beautifully polished metal work. As someone who has recently installed a couple of 'slip on' knee lever flags on my push pull, I am extremely intrigued as to how the 2nd lever from the left in the last photo above is accessed with the player's knee.
Installing 10 knee levers on an Emmons push pull is no mean feat. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Telonics TCA-500, Webb 614-E, |

Tommy posted these pics here on the forum in 2008. Looks to be Jeff Garden's guitar. Tom puts every metal piece on the buffing wheel until it shines like a mirror! When you look at an undercarriage like this... you see your face looking back at you! I know, he's rebuilt about 10 guitars for me, going back to 1985
Here's a sweet old rack & barrel S-10 Sho-Bud that Tom rebuilt for me about 10 years ago. I rescued the guitar from a dirt basement under a cottage where it had been stored for 20 years! The basement was not winterized so the wind, rain and snow would blow through. The case and the guitar smelled like a dirty old barn! Tom stripped it, flocked the underside, cleaned up the existing parts, and custom cut a few missing parts. He was able to locate a couple of brass barrels to complete my setup, and the guitar played like new.

i bought an early '70s s10 push pull from tom a few months ago. my retired folks picked it up at tom's house on their way home from florida. they were super impressed with tom and thought he was a great guy.
when i told them the guitar they had picked up was made in 1972 they refused to believe it because it looked brand new. it's a great axe. |
