Being the gotta know type person that I am I made me a chart of The b6 (c6 )layout of this 14 string steel guitar , Im trying to find out where the notes come from and why the knees and pedals do what they do I have found that pedal 6 lowers e to e flat inturn making a minor and ped 4 can make that a minor 7th and moving up the neck I can cover all the c chord scale such as the c dm em f g am bdim and c , probly old stuff for some of you but we gotta start somewhere. Moving on up from the c single note scale I can play the modes also , its all typical of a 6 string guitar same way , gonna be an interesting journey indeed now if I can just learn twinkle twinkle little star, hey I got you are my sunshine downpat and that's something don't ya think lol just blowin smoke friends |

Hi Russ - I'm envious of all those strings! If you use other people's C6 tab you'll soon get used to playing everything one fret higher. What are your bottom two strings tuned to? _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

You might consider changing it to E9. Maybe take 2 strings off and play it with just 12. |
OR 10.
solid and valid point. When we learn to play a musical Instrument we start with a known reference. All Piano students play the same 88 keys. All guitar students start with the same 6 string tuning, Fiddle, mandolin, etc...
Starting with a tuning outside the box creates more questions than necessary. More questions than others can offer answers to.
My take, as a performer for over 40 years as well as a teacher, revert to a common tuning so "others" can speak the same language during your initial learning period. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Ian bottom two strings are a low E and a B Im thinking id like to tune it to something different but as it is I know very little about how to go about it there is 14 strings and 8 pedals and 7 knees ha ha I don't know where to even start if I try to change anything I think it a three up and three down changer , nothing like a simple pull release , ha got myself in a mess here ,just broke a string this morning the 4th string broke , its all fun I guess |
