Anyone know of a bell crank like this that will fit a 3/8 in. square shaft? This is a one sided GFI...I messed up thinking they would fit a Carter. I want to use the straight pull rods with no bends and the 1/4 in. dia swivels like this.
All I know of in this style such as Emmons, Derby, Fess etc. are all 5/16 same as this. |

No,,,that bell crank was or is used on many guitars,,,I think GFI and Roy Thomas had a shared source for them. That type of swivel (ferrule) is also used on Kline,,,,I would like to have 20-25 of them. Maybe Michael Yahl has them??? |

Even the "H" style with barrel would work too, but don't know of any of those in 3/8 in. either.
I can, if I have to, whack off the bottom of these, re-drill a screw hole and thread through just the top part but I don't really want to do that. |

A newer MSA puller isn't one-sided, but it's 3/8", and it would work. |

I have no doubt that you are familiar with these pins but I just happen to be doing something with these right now (on a Williams with 3/8" shafts) so it was in my head.

That looks like my Carter bellcrank Jon but with a locking screw barrel.
Yeah, I have a couple of those with the barbell. I also have some Williams cranks, but those won't work with a straight rod and it takes rod retainers.
The MSA cranks have a small slot and rods bend at right angles...also calls for another style rod retainer.
I was hoping I could find something like the GFI's but in 3/8 so that I could use all the other fittings that I have to go along with those.
It may be that I swap or sell those and look for the proper ones. Just trying to make do with what I have, ya know? Thanks.
...but didn't I read somewhere that GFI used the H style with ferrules on a 3/8 shaft at one time? |

That one in Jon's post IS a Carter. I had a Williams 600, and those bellcranks are very different. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Yes, I know. I don't think Jon meant they were Williams parts, I believe he was stating he was using those to do work on his Carter as they fit the shafts, and just showing it as an example. |

Actually, I was using these Carter parts on my Williams but no matter. It was a perfect solution to my situation. In fact I could not have done what I did with Williams parts. And I had the parts on hand. |

Yes, I believe that after the Millennium, MSA switched to the "bent-end rods", a rather poor design choice, IMHO. But it probably makes them cheaper to manufacture. |

Yes, Carter parts on a Williams is what I intended to type, I just stated it wrong in my reply.
So Donny, are you saying the MIllennium era of guitars had straight rods? Barrel type retainers too?
I've actually never had hands on this new era of MSA except for my friend's Legend. |
