Tried the instructions provided in another link and it didn't work for me.

see link below....beginning at the 2:08 mark.....

sequentially.....the frets, strings, pedals, levers that Buddy C used to make that powerful and beautiful close.

you may be trying to over-complicate a fairly simple phrase. There is a bit of finesse in how he's playing it, but it sounds like he's just on strings 4-5, working back and forth between pedals down and no pedals at 10th fret first, then again at the 5th fret. The last grip sounds like strings 6-5-4.

No guitar nearby, but I'm hearing at the 1 position (pedals down) 3 & 5, pedals up, down, up...slide back 2 frets, back 3 more, then (pedals up) 3-4-5, pedals down...mute...(pedals up) then 4-5-6 and pedals down.

Buddy C. did a lot of hidden nuances in his playing, adding stuff that usually only a steel player would notice. His skill was not rooted in gobs of pedals and levers, but in the total mastery of the way he played using a simple setup. Smile

Well said, Donny. The efficacy of this phrase is all in the execution. The 'geography' is fairly straightforward.

I don't hear the high G on string 3. I hear it pivoting on the D on string 4 for the first part of the phrase.

The only time Buddy picks 2 string harmonies is for the pickups into the melody and for the walk back into the singer after the melody was played......The actually melody of the intro is played using three strings using A&B pedals./ no knee levers or other pedals were used.. Those strings are 3 4 & 5 together ... Next no pedals then pressing to A&B pedals down playing strings 2 3 & 5 for the five chord...Then release the pedals and stay on 2 3 & 5 and walk back chromatically 2 frets no pedals....then pick (no pedals) strings 4 5 & 6 at the fret you started. Then he plays a triad fill and then a two string walk.

Thanks for that, Paul. Great stuff. Any thoughts on the outro/end? Is that all 3 strings too? I'm only hearing 2, except for the last hit of the song. See the tab above.
