Hello,

Finally pulled the trigger on a Milkman The Amp. So far I have tried it recording direct, practicing through the headphone outs, and as a tube pre into my half and half and all methods sound really great.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a little 1x12 cabinet to use for smaller, quieter gigs.

Looks like Milkman recommends a Jupiter ceramic, so that's probably a contender, but I wanted to see what else people have tried.

Thanks,
Joe

I use Tim's recommendation, the Jupiter Ceramic. I put it in a Mojotone Lite 12" cab...the tone is really great (and the weight is only 22 lbs)...and I've owned a Milkman Pedal Steel Amp, Pedal Steel Mini, and Half and Half...this reminds me of my favorite, the Pedal Steel Mini, with the 40 watt amp running in its sweet spot with a lot of personality and warmth...

I broke the speaker in playing an iPod through the The Amp in a closet for a day...

Of course, the other option is to use the neo speaker that Tim puts in the The Amp combo...save another 3 lbs.....I don't know how that one sounds, but if tim likes it, I'm sure it is fine...I believe it is the Celestion G12 Neo Creamback...

Hi Joseph.

I put a PF350 8ohm speaker (12") into a "cube" shaped cabinet I bought ready made on-line (about 17" on all sides, with a large oval port in the back).

Man, it sounds great... of course I can also use this cab as an external with my 200 watt Quilter Steelaire, since it is rated for 350 watts... but with the Milkman, it so far is the best amp/cab combo I've come up with....

… but of course the weight of the large speaker magnet adds to the overall cab weight.... even so, I like the sound, so to me it's just one more item on my rolling cart.

Check my band's schedule on the web site, I use this amp/cab setup whenever I'm at the downtown café we play at on most Sundays (and I use the Quilter at the outdoor gigs).
