I was at a recording studio last week. The owner offered to let me use some of his amps, so we tried out a 1930's EH-150, and it was great, except the filament rattle on a preamp tube. The second amp was a late 70's Deluxe Reverb. When I played, immediately it sounded like my volume pedal had a bad pot...very scratchy. Thought it might be the amp and moved on to a blackface bandmaster...same noise. Threw out my VP and used the guitar player's ernie ball...same scratchy sound. Owner gave me a morley pedal with an impedance matching circuit and battery. Problem solved.

My pedal works on my amps: Tweed Deluxe, Twin, Session 400, peavey studio pro 50. Why not his amps? Is there some kind of voltage back-feeding out of his amps? I've never seen such a thing.

Certainly sounds like DC on the pot.

That's what I was thinking. Some of the guy's gear is not maintained well, and I think his amps are due for some new caps.

Yep - the input cap on the amp is leaking DC to your pedal.
