Can anyone tell me what the Carter Starter Wrench kit contains? What kind of wrenches & what sizes?
I purchased a used Carter Starter & I think I have just about everything that comes with one...just not the wrench kit.
If anyone could tell me what makes up the wrench kit...I would appreciate it.
Carter wants $40 for all of the enclosures & wrench kit.
I would really like to talk so someone who also has a Carter Starter to find out for sure what I am missing and perhaps arrange to get some copies.

I bought a lot of used guitars.Every brand.No one, even dealers sent a wrench kit.The reason the previous owner always keeps it. At these prices I can understand why. 
However, I never sell a guitar without a wrench kit. Unless I state up front it doesn't have one. Just don't seem right. It's like selling a late model car with no spare tire.
With dealers I raise cane till they send one. The others I just take it on the chin.
Never owned a Carter starter.But I'm guessing you'll need a wrench for the nylon tuners. 5 to 7 bucks.Depends on where you shop. And maybe 3 allen wrenches at about 50 cents a piece at yout local hardware store.

| I'm using a 3/16" nut driver out of a computer tool kit to adjust the nylon tuners. I got my psg without any tools or instructions, too. |

Thanks Max! I'll have to try that when I get home. I just received the thing today & haven't really set it up...it can't be too hard!!!
I am kind of disappointed with the quality of the gig bag & the leg/rod pouch...then again, I guess they had to cut corners somewhere huh?
Other than the wrench kit, I think I pretty much have everything I need.

I'm not really sure what all wrenches I need, since I don't know what all they originally come with. I'm sure that I'll need the one for the nylon tuner pegs. Whatever else you can think of that I need that you could spare would be great.

Splurge! buy a set of small wire cutters, a couple small screwdrivers, a 3/16" nut driver, and a whole set of small hex (Allen) wrenches. Even if you don't use 'em all, someone else (the banjo player?) at a gig might!
Shouldn't set you back more'n 20 bucks. |

I'm with Donny. Those are all handy tools to have available.
I'm thinking that $40 may cover more than just tools. I think those guitars come with the wrenches, a video, tuning guide, owner's manual, etc.

Its been a while, but if memory serves correctly the "wrench" kit for the carter starter contained:
a couple allen wrenches (not essential unless you need to adjust something underneath the guitar)
a string winder (useless because you have fingers on your hand)
a 3/16 hex nut driver (very useful)
so for $2.00 at a hardware store you can get the hex nut driver and forget the rest
(tho Donny is right , a good set of allen wrenches will not go unused)
the dvd that came with the starter was useful tho, I'd send i to you if I still had it. and yes the gig bag is completely worthless. good luck with the CS. [This message was edited by Ben Jones on 21 June 2006 at 07:18 AM.] |

I plan on just buying some of the cheap allen wrenches & of course the nut-driver, just to be on the safe side.
I appear to have most of the other stuff. I will, hopefully very soon, purchase the hardshell case just in case I decide to transport it. My machine rides pretty rough & there's no way that the C.S. would like getting bounced around that much.
