BMI steel , Cowboys tuning ....My situation is this , I had a gig this weekend and the Phillips head screw that holds the bracket to my LKR rods came loose( the one on the outside of the guitar ) , thankfully I was able to tighten it back up and go on as normal . This morning at church I went to tune my LKR 8th string E-D and I can’t get it to go to “D”, I have tried all the turning I can without TRYING to throw it off completely. It only goes to D# not D. My 8th pedal E-D was also Thrown off . My F and E-Eb knees are okay , they got a little off just as I was trying to find the right nylon tuning key but I was able to tune them back . Any suggestions on what I should do ? Thanks guys

Is any rod already activating the lowering mechanism at the changer when no levers/pedals are used ?
Is there any lower restriction screws on the changer itself(also called split tuning screws) that prevent the lower to reach all the way down to the D note?

Without a picture of the changer mechanism it is difficult to say what could cause the problem. The lowering mechanics should be possible to figure by looking under the guitar and checking what the pull rod is actually doing, or supposed to be doing.

If it is all pull mechanism you might have to loosen all the nylon tuners on those pull rods that are lowering that E string and re-adjust all the lowers, making sure the open string always go back to normal with no lever/pedal activated.

Is there more than 1 hole that the screw could have gone in?

Cameron - Did that external bracket come completely loose from the back of the guitar, or did the screw just get a little bit loose?

Since the string is new it’s still wavering on being in tune ... I figured maybe let it settle and try it again???
