You should use the Normal Gain channel for steel guitar. You might start with the Post on 5 and the Pre on 3. Then you can make it louder or quieter, but always make sure the Post is higher than the Pre or you will get distortion.

The Renoun has a parametric EQ. A lot of steel players will set the Shift at 800 and the Paramid at -9. Start with the Low and High at 0 and then add or subtract them to taste.
