I am planning on building a Tele or Les style solid body guitar. Only problem I am running into is the amount of just plain junk that most vendors are attempting to pawn off as top of the line. It's just sickening and disheartening.
All I am after is a decent grained wood: pecan, oak, elm, hickory, ash, or something similar. It can be a single piece or in several pieces that can be glued together to look halfway decent.
Any information on where I can find it, from reputable dealers, members of the forum, or individuals would be great.

Keim lumber in Charm, Ohio. if they don't have it, you can't get it. That's where I get all my figured lumber. They have some really beautiful wood and hardwoods from all over the world and they won't hurt your wallet.

Contact Mike Hill near Bristol, VA. Mike supplied all of Gibson’s maple and other premium hardwoods for their Les Paul’s. I’m at my cabin in the Smoky Mountains in TN. for the summer and my contact info for Mike is at my home in FL. You may mention that I sent you to him, should be glad to either give you the premium wood for a guitar or at the least, sell it to you for a minimum. I personally handpicked much of the maple for Derby Steels that were “lacquer” (other than mica) finished from Mike Hill’s personal stock. |
