A friend recently died and left his widow 7 resonator guitars. She needs money and I am going to help, trying to sell them. Old Dobro's, 1 National and 1 fairly new Regal. I will be posting pictures on this site for the sale. Where can I get info to date the guitars with the serial numbers.I have no dog in the hunt, just trying to help a widow lady. Thanks for any help. |

The fairly new regal should have comparable guitars on ebay, The Older ones post some images and people here should chip in with information as to the models.
Price will then depend on the different factors, being realistic to the market being significant in the decision making, and lack of hassle for the relatives.

Good on you for helping somebody out
There's info on the 30's and later period Dobros, OMI, and Gibson Dobros scattered around the web, if you google "Dobro serial number" "OMI guitar serial number" etc that's a good start.
http://www.dobrology.com/forums/whatever/miscellaneous/2015/08/20/dobro-identification
https://www.vintageguitar.com/1880/vintage-dobros-2/
Probably for each you want to take 10 or more pictures and put them into albums on a photo sharing website: peghead, fingerboard/neck, spider/cone, tailpiece/coverplate, serial number, the case, the back esp. the patterns they burned into the wood (at OMI?), and measure the body.
That way you're ready to list in classifieds here, reverb, consignment, whatever you think is best. _________________ - keyless Sonny Jenkins laps stay in tune forever!; Carter PSG
