Hi Joseph, Charlie Stepp most always installs George L E-66's or 10-1's unless otherwise requested. I have an E-66 in one of my SD-10 Derby's & a Wallace Truetone wound to about 18,500 in the other. Recently, I installed an L-710 in a Derby for a friend and it also sounds good. I personally prefer Jerry Wallace's single coil Truetone pickup for my use. It has minimal hum, provides very clean string separation, excellent low end response along with silky highs. Whichever you choose for your Derby, pickup height placement will play a very inportant role. George L's, 2 quarters, Bill Lawrence L-710's, 3 quarters, Jerry Wallace's Truetone, 3 quarters. Please feel free to email if I can be of any further help. |

I use a TrueTone for E9 and a GeorgeL 10-1
for C6 on my Derby. (To my ear, I thought the E66 pickup on the E9 was too bright....but that's just me)
Good luck,

For my taste, the E-66's are too thin...love the Emmons 19,500 single coil in my SD-10. Bottomline, I'd highly recommend either 18,500 - 19,500 single coil. |

I'm using (2)-Geo.L. 10–1's on my Derby and it suits me just fine. The Lawrence L–710 is a fine P/U too, but; I don't know how they would work out on a Derby and have no desire to find out, at the present time! Maybe sometime¡
