I just finished this LDG up. It had been stored assembled in a shed for several years. The serial number places it in the'76 to '77 range. The cabinet was covered, but moisture had oxidized all of the metal components.
I completely disassembled it, and cleaned, buffed, and lubricated it. The changer and fingers were pretty bad. If I had to guess, I would say that the changer had been copiously salved with Balsam of Peru. Every screw head also was detailed on a wire brush wheel. Ricky Davis gave me several pointers a few years ago on cleaning and restoring the original finish on a Sho-Bud. The cabinet isn't perfect, but close enough. The pickup is still very strong, and this guitar has incredible tone and sustain. The pad was expertly recovered by my wife, and she made a leg bag for it.
I was so pleased with the outcome that I included a photo of my pickup rear window.

That’s an impressive steel guitar case in the back of your truck. Must be a beast to carry up the stairs.  |

Thanks Ricky,
I had photos before the start of the cleanup that were unfortunately discarded by "others". The changer was really a mess. Some black gooey substance. I never subscribed to applying lubricant from the top down. It is very hard to get it where in need to go.. |

Yeah Ron; I take changer fingers OUT every time I work on any ShoBud; and usually they go right in my Carburetor Choke Cleaner Bucket...ha.

OH and yes....rolling that Changer Axle is a VERY Important technique.....good on ya.
