After the nice comments for Honolulu Bound here is (as promised)another one:
Hilo Hanakahi on my National Tricone (1931). This is an old Hawaiian tune,
my arrangement is inspired by versions of Benny and Feet Rogers.
The tuning I use is A Highbass (Hi to low E C#A E C# A)
Hope you like it that one as well😊!
Aloha

I just loved that performance and don't think there is a better sound than the Tricone.

Three thumbs up on that nice playing!
Don't see too many playing with plastic finger picks, but seem to sound fine. _________________ Inlaid Star Guitar 2006 by Mark Giles. SD-10 4+5 in E9th; http://luthiersupply.com/instrument-gallery.html

One of the things I notice about your videos...the sound! Love that warm, loping, bassy backing track. And the tricone sounds so warm...sweeter than they often can (in either less skilled hands, or when recorded by someone less skilled in that stuff...both cases fit me! ) Bravo. _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

I caught this on facebook a few days back. Glad it appeared here. When I was and still am looking for inspiration and trying to find how this older music actually sounded on lap steel instruments by the great players of the day......You soon run out of options. This is a wonderful example of everything I have been looking for. Sebastian has clearly got a love of the music and has worked really hard to achieve the level of musicianship to play this music. It is not just the notes. The tone and phrasing are sublime...as is the guitar backing track. This is not a few hour video shoot. This is a lifetime of dedication and playing. Just brilliant. I hope there will be more videos coming.

Thank you so much for your kind words, these videos are a lot of work but it's totally worth it knowing you guys appreciating them.
Joe, I do have Hilo March in my repertoire, might come soon.
Nic, thank you so much for the compliment on the sound, it took some experimentation to get there, I am soundengineer so I love trying out mics, micing techniques, etc. There is definitely some Eqing going on, most important are the instruments and playing technique, switching to an archtop for Rhythm playing for example made quite a difference.
More videos to come, besides Tricone also some that feature my A-25 that I bought in February.
Thanks again and Aloha
