Is Russ still around. I saw Laney on Country Family Reunion and she was billed as Laney Smallwood (?),,,of course, I'm not sure how old the program was. Always liked her singing,,,and Russ was (or is) a monster player!!!

Russ is still kicking around Nashville. He is active in the Nashville Steel Guitar Association. Great guy.

Russ is one of my faves. I've backed him up on piano a few times at the SWSGA show in Phoenix, and it's always been one of the highlights of the weekend for me.
I played with him backing up Leona Williams one year, and his playing was vintage, classic Nashville steel... I loved every minute of it.
He's got a few CD's out...one with all George Strait songs, and his tone is just spectacular.

does anyone know if there's a way to purchase Russ's albums other than from Russ directly? I've had no luck reaching him

Russ's playing on Barefoot Jerry LPs from the 70's was an early influence on me. The band I was in all loved BJ and Little Feat.

I too would like to contact Russ. He has not replied to any of my PM's. Hoping he might have a rodding chart for Russler Steel and/or Performance Steel. Thanks, J.R.

Scott, I talked to Russ and he has a new website in the works. I'm not sure if it's up yet. I'll try to find out.
