I love my BJS bars for PSG......and I'm happy with the Lap Dawg on my Reso.......but I still can't find QUITE the right bar the 8 string Fender Deluxe I'm messing with, currently.

The Latch Lake Broz-o-Phonic is a nice shape, but just a bit small and light for me, after playing psg bars. Feels like it lacks a wee bit of sustain. I like the end indentation, though.

My BJS 7/8" sounds good, but is a bit too heavy and unwieldy on the lap steel.

Anything out there that fits nicely in between them?

Also, as an aside........is it just a myth that stainless steel strings and stainless bars aren't the best combo, for string noise?

Thanks!

Don't know about string noise, but to me, a stainless bar on stainless strings increases the friction exponentially over a stainless bar on nickel strings. It's a totally different "feel," for lack of a better term.

I use Latch Lake (or Broz-O-Phonic) bars on all my 6- and 7-string instruments. On my 10-string pedal steels, I use old Emmons PSG bars.

I really like my Clinesmith polymer bar, the non-bullet end indent isn't quite as sharp as the Latch Lake but if you want traction you can put little pieces of adhesive backed sandpaper or velcro, the hook end, on there to make it frictiony.

I use a Basil Henriques Ez-slide bar. Same size as the Jerry Byrd Dunlop steel. I LOVE it!
