In the late sixties/early seventies, Acme Electronics on Washington Avenue North in Minneapolis was liquidating the amplifier chassis for 3M Wollensak tape recorders. They had two channels, about four-five tubes, a pulsating light bulb (ala Fender tremolo) on each channel, and concentric tone & volume controls. Just hooked it up to a home-made hi-fi speaker cab and dimed it. Best sounding harmonica amplifier I have ever played through. Shoulda bought a boatload of 'em. I think they were something like twelve bucks. |
