He recorded the song several times, but the best known version is Byrd.
December of 1948, not 1949.
Tommy Jackson (fid), Jerry Byrd (sg), Zeke Turner (eg), Louis Innis (rg), Clyde Baum (man), Willie Thawl (bass).
I don't know Baum and Thawl. but Byrd and the other 3 guys were highly familiar with each other and recorded both on their own and backing up a lot of artists in Cincinnati studios. Tommy Jackson went on to great fame in Nashville; the others less well known but crack musicians.
I'm So Lonesome was from August of 49, with Byrd, Innis, Turner, Jackson and Ernie Newton on bass. |
