Email Bob at GFI...I’m certain he can answer that question. I prefer the pre ultra models and have one of the first 10 Gene built which was quite different from the later models. (Had another one but foolishly sold it and haven’t been able to locate it since😏)

Those initials, rather than numbers, have some significance I would imagine.

It looks pre of the ultra.
The first 2 things I see when comparing it to my S12 ultra, First is the double sided bell cranks on a square cross shaft. At a glance they look like old MSA Bell cranks. The ultra have just 1 side and a rim on the brass coupler to hold the pull rod. The MSA has round cross rods.

The second difference, Is the return springs. In the picture they look like they just anchor to screw in the end of the frame. My Ultra has adjustable return springs attached to black screws through the body, Which allow you to adjust the tension on the return spring.

E-mail GFI, They are good to reply to E-mail on any question on their guitars.

Just asking, but how many people adjust the tension on the return spring? Does it really matter that much? To me, and we know that I don't know anything, the bell cranks look better built on this model compared to the newer bell cranks. I am not knocking GFI in the least, just my 2 cents worth.
