You could drop at least $2,000 off that figure.

I have a similar one that I would not take less for than the one mentioned...

Whenever I see a post about Carters, I remember this old post:

I have two Legrande lll models, one of which I used on Gene Watson's last album. Just for the record, I used a Carter D-10 on Gene's Gospel album and for all practical purposes, I can't tell a dime's worth of difference, but what do I know?

We did an earlier post on this Carter. It is a high price, but it is a custom shop issue lacquer finish. The wood for the cabinet was a very old wood with great tonal qualaties. And, the listing asks to "make an offer" and I'd bet the seller would take a reasonable lower offer since it's been for sale a long time. |

Is that wood, reclaimed wood from the bottom of the lake?
I remember a special years ago about the reclamation of the logs. The guys were making a small fortune out of those old, solid logs. |

John, I believe that is correct. The wood came from the bottom of one of the great lakes, as I recall. Carter sold these special editions for about a $1000 more than the standard issue lacquer guitar. They only made a few of them. |

That is very cool. Thanks for sharing your certificate David and your guitar. I think your guitar is the prettiest carter I've seen.
I have wondered about that guitar on reverb myself. Nice to know the story about the wood. Definitely over priced for the market. |
