Great song. Found a discography saying Pete Drake was on steel. Pig Robbins, Jimmy Riddle, Darrel McCall and the Glaser Brothers were also in the session recorded at the old Starday studios on Dickerson Pike in Nashville.

As I recall, Frankie was from the Victoria, Texas area. There is a lot of black land being farmed in that area.
