I recently bought a Dr. Z Z-Lux to use as a guitar amp. I bought it used it was built 3/2021 it's like new. The previous owner replaced the 50 watt eminence speaker with 150 watt eminence. It's basically a 40 watt Deluxe amp switchable to 20 watts. Tons of headroom and a big sounding amp. I bring this up because I'm thinking it would be a great dual purpose amp. I'm driving out tomorrow to pick up my new Mullen SD 10. Has anybody tried any Dr. Z amps with a PSG? Let me know if you have any thoughts, and I'll post after I've had a chance to compare it to my Nashville 400. |

Use the Search function of the Forum and you will find several previous discussions. They even produced an amp called Surgical Steel, designed for pedal steel guitar.

I have a MAZ 38 which I have used for Steel now and then . I actually acquired it for double duty. The MAZ 18's and 38's use EL84's which offer a different tonal shape and headroom point. I found the 38 to be OK, acceptable, clean but not really the overall tone I would seek from an amp like a Fender Twin . Now for guitars ? Teles ? The MAZ 18's and 38's are spectacular ! I think the 18's have the edge though. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,
