I have friends who are on the Big Island of Hawaii for the next 2 weeks.
Can anyone recommend some good music?
Aloha and Thanks!

It's aBIG island. Which side are they staying on? If they are on the east side you can't beat Uncle Robert's in Kalapana for some old authentic Hawaiian music.

Thanks for the replies Surprised I have passed on the info.
My friends went into a uke/guitar shop and asked about any local steel guitar music and were told that steel guitar music is "Old Fashioned".

Yeah, I was on the big island and o'ahu in March and that's mostly the sentiment everywhere. Alan Akaka is doing a good job trying to counter that and promote steel guitar music. I brought my own lap steel and played by myself at the statue of Alfred Apaka (on his 100th birthday, March 19 2019) at the Hawaiian Village, and a couple people came up and were interested...one guy insisted on arguing with me that I was playing "slack key" LOL.
