I apologize if this has already been posted...
Maurice Anderson, who I was lucky enough to study with and become friends with - absolutely mind blowing that he’s playing non pedal and getting those amazing chords, not to mention his absolutely flawless and deeply musical single lines..
I miss him so much - I am so grateful to see and hear this! Thank you for making all these remarkable videos available, such an incredible service to steelers everywhere

I’ve been teaching my whole life, and I can say with 100% accuracy that Maurice was one of the finest teachers in the universe.. I should say “isâ€, because I still learn from him every day
I’m also very glad I met you through him - we’ve had some big fun, and will have lots more in January!

Christopher, I never met Reece. Can you say more about what made him such a good teacher? You are one yourself, so I'm sure you've thought a lot about this topic. I'm a teacher too, both music and otherwise, so I'm always looking for the Golden Key to really reaching students.

There’s a lot here, but some of the main things are:
Maurice fully and completely understood steel guitar, whatever tuning. You could almost never tell whether he was playing E9/B6 or Bb6 or whatever. Just as important, he thought about it very deeply, all the time, so when it came time to explain it to someone he was completely on top of it.
He had the ability, which I prize in myself on teaching guitar, to hear and watch someone play and know exactly what they needed to achieve their goals. Absolutely amazing at this..
There’s much more, maybe David Wright could chime in here, but Reece was a master in ways very few players, even great ones, could achieve

I never had the opportunity to study under Reece, but I always admired his playing and his approach to steel and the community.
One of my fav all time solos is Reece on the Body and Soul solo from the 70's Calvacade of Guitars live recording.
I have enjoyed a lot of his playing over the years, both live at the conventions and on recordings.
I believe Maurice should go down as one of the important innovators in steel building and playing.
You have done him proud Christopher. Many of us enjoy your offerings and keeping the Reece tradition alive.
