Hello. I just bought a new guitar and it has 6 knee levers. Also I did not ask what the setup was and it turned out to be a day setup. I am going to change it to an emmons but I don't know what to do with the 6 knee levers. any Ideas?
thanks,

If your going from the Day setup to Emmons setup, and the D lever & F lever are on the left leg, for Emmons they should be the F moving to the left and the D moving to the right. Although I have had some day setups that use the D lever [lowering
E's] on the right lever moving left, this being the case you might get by without moving the levers but the F lever might be a little uncomfortable. I have played both setups over the years, but on the S-12 Universals I like the Emmons setup best cause I like to move my right foot over & play the 'C' pedal for some Mooney licks.

I like my D lever on the right knee and the F lever on the left knee. But you'll get used to whatever you play on the most. Just knowing where the different pulls are and what they do is the important thing.

This is going to fly in the face of conventional wisdom, but I favor standardization. The nearest thing to a standard Emmons setup is Carter's E9/C6 which you can see at http://www.steelguitar.com/resource/tunings/tune9c6.htm
I use this on both my push/pull and my LeGrande, with the exception that P4 also does the Franklin change. Oddly, most of the Emmons players I know use this exact setup (plus or minus the Franklin change).
You don't have to do anything with the 6th knee right away. Disconnect it, remove it, or leave it as-is.

If you consider the 5-knee-levers to be the usual, then my 6th. KL Lowers #2 - ½-Tone (D#) to (D) and Raises #7 - ½-Tone (F#) to (G).

what you need is to have the A Pedal available in the same knee/leg movement as the E Raise lever..A Pedal left leg going left..E Raise LKL
and if the E lower is on a left knee lever also, you would want it accessable with the B Pedal, while your foot is on both AB Pedals together..your leg/knee rocks right so the common location is LKR..
it's the issue of logistics and physical locations as well as physical limitations.
This of course is based on the E's being on the left levers...
